Hello! There are some great memories to be made this weekend, with a brilliant spread of family-friendly events on in and around Exeter.

Woofstock brings the dogs and a load of kids' activities to Powderham, there's a family ceilidh in town on Saturday, and a free crafting drop-in at RAMM to round things off.

This Weekend's Pick

Woofstock at Powderham Castle is the pick of the bunch this weekend (as long as you like dogs...) and for the dog owners amongst you, it's a rare opportunity to bring both your furry and non-furry family members along for a festival day out.

Alongside the obvious - the dog shows, the agility runs and the police-dog displays - there's also a climbing wall, archery, mini golf and a "pawcasso" tent, so there's plenty to keep the kids busy, dog owner or not. It's set in the grounds of Powderham Castle with live music later on, and the family day is the Sunday. The first events kick off at 10am.

Adults are £15 on the Sunday, £7.70 for a kids' ticket, with under-7s free, and dogs, as you'd expect, also free.

A Family Ceilidh with Theatre Alibi

If you fancy something a bit different, Theatre Alibi's Little Folk Club is putting on a family ceilidh on Saturday. There's live music from local musicians Jon Dyer, of the Devon Youth Folk Ensemble, and Hannah Cumming, with Jon doubling as the caller and walking everyone through every dance step-by-step, so even total beginners feel confident joining in.

No experience needed at all, and it works just as well whether you've never danced before or you're a seasoned mover. There are two sessions, at 10:30am and 2pm, each running about an hour and forty minutes, and it's £5 a head for everyone. Booking is recommended.

Craft Festival at Bovey Tracey

Worth the drive this week: the Craft Festival at Bovey Tracey, about half an hour out towards Dartmoor and just off the A38. It's one of the country's biggest craft festivals, and the family side is better than you'd expect, with a free children's activities tent on both days and clay-modelling workshops run by Jim Parkyn, an ambassador for Aardman.

Accompanied under-18s go free and adults are £10 for the day, so it's an easy and cheap one if you're up for a wander.

Side-by-side Crafting at RAMM

This week's free pick is a drop-in at RAMM. Side-by-side crafting is a community session where textile artist Rosy Tydeman helps you stitch a "letter for a loved one", with all materials provided. It runs 11am to 3pm on Sunday only and leans to the older end of the range, roughly 8 and up, so it's a nice calm one for slightly bigger kids.

While you're in town, the free Princesshay Goes Wild trail of grass animal sculptures is dotted around the shopping quarter both days and makes an easy add-on.
