Hello! Halloween lands on Saturday this year and bonfire season gets going on Sunday, so it's a weekend of fancy dress and fireworks as half term winds down.
In town there's a monster party at the Picturehouse and a free willow-building day at RAMM, plus a LEGO day out at Buckfast Abbey and the first big fireworks of the year near Uffculme.
This Weekend's Pick
Build a Wild Wicker Beast at RAMM
RAMM is turning its courtyard into a willow workshop on Sunday, and craftsman Stefan Jennings will be helping everyone twist and bend sticks into big wild beasts. It's a free drop-in and nobody needs any experience.
There's an indoor rag tree to tie a winter wish on, and the finished creatures go on display at the museum next year, so there's a good chance of coming back to find the one you helped make. The cafe is doing mulled cider and Devon apple cake on the day, with a giant wheatsheaf loaf from One Mile Bakery to tear a chunk off.
| When | Sunday 1 November, 10.30am to 4pm |
| Where | RAMM courtyard, Queen Street, Exeter city centre (Guildhall and Mary Arches car parks are close, and Exeter Central station is right next door) |
| Cost | Free, just drop in. |

It's a U, it isn't scary, and at 84 minutes it fits neatly into a Saturday morning.

Bridwell Park near Uffculme holds its sixth bonfire night on Sunday, and it's the first big fireworks show of the season. Roaming entertainers, a fire show, a live band and food stalls fill the evening before the bonfire is lit at 6.30pm, followed by a fireworks display set to music at 7pm.
Tickets are advance only, with none sold on the night. It sells out every year and there are only a limited number of the cheaper under-16 tickets, so it's worth booking now. Gates close at 6.15pm for the bonfire, and parking is free on site but first come, first served.

Worth the drive: LEGO Fun Day at Buckfast Abbey
Julian from Brick Ideas is back at Buckfast Abbey on Saturday with mountains of LEGO. Everyone can build whatever they like, or help put together a model of the Abbey itself out of bricks.
It's £2.50 a head, and everyone in the group needs a place, grown-ups included. Spaces are limited, so book through the form on the event page, and the Abbey grounds are free to wander afterwards if anyone still has the energy.
| When | Saturday 31 October, sessions 10am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4pm |
| Where | Schiller Hall, St Cuthbert's Conference Centre, Buckfast Abbey, Buckfastleigh (about 35 min from Exeter on the A38) |
